    The American citizens section
     That’s the department of the consulate that is concerned with serving the American citizens present in Fiji. For example: they can issue passports, renew their passports, add extra visa pages, extend their passport validity, report stolen passports and green cards. Beside passport services the consulate office offers other services like birth registration of American citizens, notary services for documents to be used in the United States, reporting of death of American citizen and adoption of Fijian children. One of the important services that the consulate office does is the voting service for American citizens overseas. Along with the services the consulate provides the American citizens with very useful information about medical care and where they can find hospitals and doctors in Fiji also the consulate provides the citizens with list of attorneys if needed in any case. They consulate offers help in cases of emergency by providing a 24 hours phone number to report your emergency to the duty officer in charge.

    For the Fijian citizens
    The consulate accept the application for immigrant and non immigrant visas. A visa to the United States differs a lot according to the purpose of the visit. If you are intending to visit the United States temporarily then apply for nonimmigrant visa there are many kinds of non immigrant visa so you have to choose the one that matches your case. The non immigrant visa categories are tourism, study, religious workers and others and you have to choose which category that you fall under.

    Immigrant visa to the United States
    Immigration to the United States is subjected to many rules and requirements. Applying to the immigrant visa is done by the consulate office if you are eligible to one of the following categories: immediate relative to American citizen, fiancé (e) of American citizen, special immigrant and diversity lottery.

    The diversity lottery electronic draw is done every year on November / December, on preceding October the United States government announces the rules for this lottery and this rule may change every year due to security matters.

    Every type of immigrant visas and non immigrant visas need a different form to be filled out in addition to documents that prove your eligibility to the visa you are applying for.
